Slapton Ley is separated from the sea by a shingle bar that has the coastal road running along its ridge. The bar is carpeted with a rich variety of plants that include Sea Radish, Knotgrass, Yellow Horned Poppy and Vipers Bugloss. In spring and summer, either side of the southwest coastal path running the full length of the Lower Ley is a blaze of colour.
