Hallsands is a small bay with a fine shingle beach sheltered from prevailing westerly winds by Start Point. However, it carries the full brunt of storms from the east as witnessed by the erotion of the beach and cliffs below the hotel in the foreground. In August 2002 the hotel was boarded up to await demolition that unfortunately now gives Hallsands a very derelict and dilapidated appearance.
