Just inside the bar on the west side of the entrance to Salcombe Harbour, South Sands is the most southerly beach on the estuary. A ferryboat runs a regular daily service between Salcombe and South Sands throughout the summer months. Driving beyond South Sands brings you to the National Trust property of Overbecks. The southwest coastal path wends its way from here out to Bolt Head around Stairhole Bay.
