There is a public footpath that crosses the downs from Thurlestone to Bantham. As it bridges the rise the walker is treated to this breathtaking panorama of Bigbury Bay, with Burgh Island shown off to its full glory. The Avon River curls around Hams End to join the eddying waters of the Bay and the high cliffs stretch beyond to Hoist Point and The Beacon.
