The market town of Kingsbridge is steeped in history and there are records of fruit and vegetable markets being held on the quay as far back as the 13th century. The estuary flows some 6 miles inland from the bar at Salcombe up to Kingsbridge quay at it's most northerly point. The tidal flow presents an ever changing scene.
