During low water spring tides, Salcombe Harbour exposes wide expanses of sand banks and the waters of the estuary narrow to a shallow channel. At these times it is possible to walk uninterrupted along the sandy beach on the East Portlemouth side, from the Ferry jetty right out beyond Biddlehead point to Sunny Cove, passing Small?s Cove and Mill Bay along the way.
